MJ’s Closet

mjaroundtheway:

Decided to sell some of my barely-worn’s in order to make space for our new baby!
Anything that won’t sell within a month, I’ll be putting it on consignment, so if you’re interested, might as well get on it now before it gets marked up!

spend on trend: September 14-16

Coming into its 8th year, Spend on Trend is returning to Heritage Hall in mid-September. These are one of my favorite shopping events to attend because of the variety of local designers; it’s always so exciting to see what Vancouver designers come up with for the season and it’s rarely disappointing.

Nifty for Fifty Recap

Just got back from the 5th Annual Nifty for Fifty shopping event. For those who haven’t been, it’s one of the best opportunities to score some great locally made clothing and accessories. Nothing is over $50, and you get to meet the designers!

I tried on a lot of lovely pieces, but none that I could wear during my pregnancy (and I was thisclose to buying them anyways in hopes of wearing them afterwards).

On my way out, I happened across a table with these cute leather collar necklaces and couldn’t pass it up, so I ended up purchasing these two ($20 each) from Bianca Barr:

She even added the gold feather pendant on the collar for me!

She’s got some additional great accessories on her »Etsy page.

Thanks for another great one, Nifty for Fifty!

ReFashion Recap

Went to the »ReFashion event this morning with my girlfriend, Danielle. Seeing as I’m 5 months pregnant, I wasn’t expecting to find many “baby bump-friendly” clothes, so I didn’t expect to find anything for myself but was prepared to help Danielle look for some wearable wonders for herself.

Boy, was I wrong!

Not only did Danielle find some great pieces for herself, but I found some nice ones for myself, too!

Tunic Dress, $10

I saw this cute tunic the second I walked into the event and bought it right away. The eyelet detail on the shoulders are what sold me, along with the elastic waist band (translation = baby bump friendly!)

Calvin Klein Blouse, $10

I could always use more work-friendly clothes and this one is made of a stretchier fabric allowing me to wear it during pregnancy and afterwards! Score!

Zara Box Blouse, $25
I passed by this shirt but didn’t pick it up, thinking it was too big for me but after doing a round, I saw that it was still hanging on the rack. Even though it’s a size Large, I tried it on only because it matched my shoes and was pleasantly surprised. Love the gold buttons running down the back.

Babydoll Hoodie, $15
I’ve been looking far and wide for something exactly like this - a comfortable hoodie I can wear without feeling like a pregnant sausage. I found this in a bin with a similar hoodie in army green, but I favored this navy one more.

Great event and looking forward to attending the next one (maybe even selling!)

clinique bonus time

It’s Clinique Bonus Time at Sears until May 8th.

I remember when I was younger, my mom would always be on the lookout for Clinique Bonus Time, since it was her favorite skincare line. She passed the love down to me and now I love Clinique…

These are my favorite Clinique products:

Even Better Makeup SPF 15 ($31)
Goes on light but still covers well and has built-in sunscreen for when the Sun actually decides to come out. More info…

Almost Powder Makeup SPF15 ($30)
Long-wearing and great to wear on its own. More info…

Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion - Dry, Combination ($29)
Can’t go wrong with the basics. This keeps my skin moisturized under makeup and the gel version is great too. More info…
